High School
Step one – September 2023
Families should visit the High Schools they are considering for the future to gather more information. A list of dates of the Open Evenings is published on the website of the local authority.
Step Two – September 2023
For Manchester residents Admission Packs, including the Common Application Forms are distributed to parents and carers via the child’s Primary school. Non Manchester residents should contact their local authority for more details.
Step Three – October 2023
All completed Common Application Forms should be completed and returned to the local authority in which the family resides. For Manchester residents this is: Overseas House, Quay Street, Manchester.
Step Four- Early March 2024
Places are allocated in line with the preferences stated on the application form. The local authority writes to each family to notify them of their allocated High school.
Step Five
Loreto High school writes to all new students to invite them to attend a taster day in July.
Step Six – July 2024
Information Evening is held for new students and their family.
Step Seven – September 2024
Students start at Loreto.
If you are unhappy with the school allocated to your child please contact the school of your choice to ask if you can be added to the waiting list. If parents feel that they have grounds to appeal against a decision to admit their child then they should make an appeal to an independent panel. Please contact your local Authority for more information.
