Loreto
High School
At Loreto High school we expect every student to attend regularly and arrive on time. Students are expected to be at school by 8.45am ready to start the school day at 8.50am. If for any reason a student is unable to attend, the school should be told on the first day of absence and a note should also be brought when the child returns. For further information on the school’s attendance procedures and policy, please contact the school.
The dedicated telephone number for reporting student absence is
0161 882 3142
Students are not allowed to leave the school campus during the day, including break and lunch times.
Loreto High School lessons begin at 8.50am. Students should arrive before 8.45am so that they can be in their classroom ready to begin lessons. Any student who is late to school will receive a 30 minute after school detention on the day they are late (parents/carers will be sent a text to inform them). Students who are late after 8.50am and before 9.20am will receive a late mark in the register and a 30 minute detention.
Students who are late to school after 9.20am will be marked as an unauthorised absence for the morning session in school. Students will receive an hour detention on the day they are late.
Students who are late to lessons should be marked as 'L' when they arrive. They should be issued with a 10 minute detention. Any student who is more than 10 minutes late will be classed as truanting and will be issued with an after school detention. Parent/carers will be notified via the ClassCharts parent app. Persistently being late to lessons represents a significant barrier to learning and will warrant an escalation in sanctions. Parents/carers may be invited in to discuss this issue with the Head of Year and/or Director of Ethos & Behaviour.
